T+A PSD 3100 HV Preamplifier / Streaming DAC
The T+A PSD 3100 HV is a brand new product due for release in the summer of 2023. It has been a little while coming but as ever good things come to those who patiently wait!
The PSD is best described as a Preamplifier with a Streaming DAC, it is incredibly flexible and can be used in a wide variety of system configurations, it can be used with an active pair of speakers, or with a power amplifier and a pair of loudspeakers, turn the pre-amp off and use it with an integrated like the PA 3100 HV (or better yet use the PA3100 as just a power amp with the PSD as the Pre!
The beating heart of the PSD 3100 is the network circuit board. The role of this board is to process incoming Network signals and USB master-mode signals, and provide access to high-quality streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz and Deezer. For local applications the new third-generation T+A streaming client directly streams PCM data at a quality of up to 192/32 (HD) from the network, and DSD files with a resolution up to DSD 256.
The PSD offers an extensive array of inputs:
USB B x 1 (for a Melco or suchlike)
Ethernet x 1 (Stream Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Roon plus Internet Radio)
Wireless LAN socket x 1
USB A x 1 (play music from a USB stick or passport style HDD)
Optical Digital x 2
RCA Digital x 1
BNC Digital x 1
AES/EBU Digital x 1
IPA Link x 1 (Dedicated for the PDT 3100 SACD transport)
HDMI Inputs x 2 / Outputs x 1
Analogue RCA x 1 pair
Radio Antenna x 1 (FM/DAB)
Pre-outs 1 x pair RCA and 1 x pair XLR
As you can see from the image of the rear panel the PSD requires 2 power cables to function as the digital and analogue circuitry are complete separate to one another.
On the front panel there is another USB A socket, plus a headphone output.
