Avalon Acoustics philosphy is quite simple – ‘to build the finest loudspeakers possible, without compromise’
Avalon Acoustics are undoubtedly one of the world’s premier loudspeaker manufacturers, they are based in Boulder, Colorado, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
They design and craft works of art for music lovers looking to achieve the precise recreation of a moving musical experience, delivering all of the musical emotional impact, power and nuances of detail whilst remaining completely natural, focussed, time coherent and above all else, musical.
Avalon loudspeakers show absolute neutrality in presentation terms; they don’t force themselves onto you with huge amounts of resolution and attack, like some other speaker brands do. Instead, Avalon slowly draws you in over time and seduces you.
As with any speaker in-room set up is absolutely critical to ensure the best results are being delivered from the speaker. Once dialled in and integrated correctly they simply disappear in the room leaving you with an expansive and utterly holographic presentation that will stay with you for years. They are hugely open and refined with superb coherence.
Cabinet construction is second to none, their multi-faceted design is not just for aesthetics, it performs a major role in giving the speaker its voice. By eliminating the corners at the top and bottom of the baffle signal diffraction is reduced to an absolute minimum; this also helps minimise side wall reflections and serves to help produce the huge holographic soundstage that Avalon are renowned for. Avalon put huge emphasis on their crossover design and implementation and Avalon’s chief designer Neil Patel stated that “I think of a drive unit as being a muscle in the body. No matter how good it is, it can’t operate without instructions from the brain”
The current Avalon line up starts with PM1, moving up to PM2, PM3 and PM4, then above the PM4 there is the Isis, the Saga and the flagship Tesseract.
