The Audio Therapy Listening Room
A place to relax and enjoy the music!
My demonstration room is always pretty busy, whether it is me evaluating a new product, or customers listening to a potential new upgrade there is always something going on. The room is used most frequently by new customers who are reaching out to me often for the first time, somebody may want to compare a couple of products initially and then continue with a proper home trial, but once a relationship has been established most customers have a home trial where there can take their time listening, in their own system to ensure they are making the right choice.
I don’t operate from a shop or retail unit – instead I am based from my home, an old farmhouse, I have 2 rooms dedicated to the business, I often get asked why I don’t have a traditional shop and the honest answer is it would be closed for 75% of the week, I spent the majority of my time visiting customers in their homes, demonstrating and installing new equipment, highly specialist retailing has dramatically changed over the past few years and this allows me incredible flexibility which customers seem to like.
The demonstration room serves me well, it is a fairly typical sized UK room, it is 4.5 metres long, 3 metres wide with a 2.8 metre high ceiling, the room has been mapped by Accustica Applicata and it has been a superb addition to the space, it makes the room sound like it is physically much larger and it never fails to take people by surprise. It is also incredibly easy to demonstrate how effective it can be and it has resulted in many customers unintentionally adding some Acustica Applicata to their own rooms, it’s a powerful addition and it so frequently highlighted the fact that the room is often what holds a system back, not the system itself.
I carry an extensive selection of products for demonstration from all of the brands which I represent. If you are looking for a complete system, a single component upgrade or a new pair of loudspeakers the listening room is a great place to a get a feel for a selection of products before we visit your home for a more extensive demonstration. Your own space is critical for this, but the demonstration room is a great starting point.
Many assume the demonstration room is only used for the most expensive products I carry, the reality of it couldn’t be further from the truth, customer demonstrations for smaller items from Melco, Gold Note, Fyne Audio and Plixir are fairly commonplace these days and if a customers isn’t decided by the end of the demonstration I would always encourage a home trial.
Ultimately, the demonstration room is here for people to use and enjoy and it should be taken advantage of!
