Kroma Atelier
Kroma Atelier are a loudspeaker brand based in Andalucia in southern Spain, they are best described as a boutique brand, relatively unknown to many, but they offer genuinely high end, world class levels of performance from each of their loudspeakers – all hand crafted utilising modern technology combined with real passion and love for music, they are a very special loudspeaker brand and one I’m immensely proud to be representing.
Over the past couple of year the UK importer of Kroma, Boyer Audio has demonstrated a variety of Kroma models, across 3 or 4 Hi-Fi Shows in the UK and each outing all of the feedback from the systems and rooms has been nothing short of exemplary.
I knew from the first moment I heard Kroma it was something I wanted to be involved in, they are an exquisite product and they dovetail in really well with the other speaker brands I represent at this sort of level (Vimberg, Avalon and Fyne’s F1 models).
Kroma have 3 different ranges of products at varying price points, Classic Series, Signature Series and their flagship Reference Series and their are 13 different models available in total.
Classic Models: Mimi, Thais, Julieta, Stella, Elektra
Signature Models: Leonore, Macbeth, Jovita, Matilde, Mercedes
Reference Models: Irya, Turandot, Maribel
The Jovita and Irya are brand new models, both had their official launch at Munich High End 2024.
We are focussing on the entry level Classic Series initially, although the term entry level is a little misleading, Kroma’s first speaker is the stand mount Mimi which is priced at £11,500 plus their dedicated stands (£3500), which we keep on permanent demonstration. The Mimi won an Editor’s Choice Award in the 25th Anniversary Edition of Hi-Fi+ Magazine.
Visually the Kroma range is quite unconventional with all of the cabinets manufactured from Krion™ which is a material designed and manufactured by the Porcelanosa Group. Krion™ is very much like Corian in the way it looks and feels, visually they are superb and a break from the norm is very refreshing in my opinion.
They almost look and feel like natural stone, Krion™ is comprised of two-thirds natural minerals (aluminium trihydrate) and a low percentage of high-resistance resins. This composition gives Krion™ a number of exclusive features: it does not have any pores, it is very hard-wearing, highly resistant, it only requires minimum maintenance and is very easy to clean. Due to the nature of Krion™ and its properties it is very strong acoustically and offers excellent insulating properties.
The classic Kroma finish is all white, but you do have the option to change the side cheeks to Titanium, Aluminium, Champagne, Carbon Fibre or Wood for the same cost, plus there are cost option paint finishes, the price of which varies from model to model.
I keep Mimi on permanent demonstration, Thais and Stella demonstrations can be organised with a little notice, the other models from the Classic Series plus Signature and Reference will appear soon.
