Kroma Atelier Stella Loudspeakers

The Thais are the second floorstanding speaker in Kroma Atelier’s entry level Classic Series, and are a larger version of the Thais essentially.

Kroma are a Spanish company, based in Andalucia in southern Spain.

The entire range of Kroma loudspeakers (13 models across 3 distinct ranges) are all manufactured from Krion™ which is a material designed and manufactured by the Porcelanosa Group. Krion™ is very much like Corian in the way it looks and feels, visually they are superb and a break from the norm is very refreshing.

They almost look and feel like natural stone, it is comprised of two-thirds natural minerals (aluminium trihydrate) and a low percentage of high-resistance resins. This composition gives Krion™ a number of exclusive features: it does not have any pores, it is very hard-wearing, highly resistant, it only requires minimum maintenance and is very easy to clean. Due to the nature of Krion™ and its properties it is very strong acoustically and offers excellent insulating properties.

Stella stands at 116cm metre tall, they are a larger cabinet than the Thais and they have an additional 6.5 inch Purifi Mid/Bass driver compared to them – this third driver is dedicated for frequencies below 450hz, the other 2 drive units both goes as low but they units extend higher as well, up to 2.75kHz.

They are rear ported at both the top and bottom of the cabinet and are designed to work in a larger room than the Mimi and Thais, like the Thais they certainly appreciate a little bit of free space away from boundaries, they are 45 cm deep and 26 cm wide.

Tonally Stella is like a Thais, but it simply offers greater scale, improved bass weight, more transparency. The Thais is an excellent speaker and is likely be an end game loudspeaker for many, but if you have the space and the means the Stella is a superior loudspeaker.

Stella are £33,000 a pair in the standard finishes, the coloured cabinets adds £1380 to the price.
