OePhi Cables

OePhi is the brainchild of Joakim Juhl, an engineer based in Denmark who has taken a rather unique approach to cable and loudspeaker design.

His philosophy is elegantly simple: “Timing is Everything” and this phrase succinctly outlines OePhi’s goal: to deliver impeccable time domain accuracy in everything they design and manufacture.

As with their loudspeakers, OePhi cables are handcrafted to deliver the ultimate in precision, timing and musical performance.

OePhi are a relatively small company, unheard of by many, but over the past 18 months their profile in the marketplace has been elevated from being featured in a number of prominent hi-fi magazines, with several of their loudspeakers and cables picking up some excellent reviews, collecting numerous awards along the way. More than one reviewer has ended up purchasing OePhi for use in their own system as well.

My first experience with OePhi was in Munich at High End 2024 and I knew right from my very first listening that I wanted to be involved. After an extensive evaluation period with their loudspeakers my demonstration stock arrived in the Spring of 2025 and it feels like I’ve not stopped with them ever since, so far every OePhi speaker demonstration has resulted in an order and customers have been amazed with what they have heard.

OePhi aren’t just all about loudspeakers though, they also produce a significant selection of cables as well. Many customers assumed that the loudspeakers came first and the cables followed, but it was actually the other way around with Joakim starting work on his original cable designs back in 2007.

When I received the loudspeakers to evaluate I was also given a considerable selection of OePhi cables to appraise as well, but I wanted to fully immerse myself into their speakers before introducing the cables. They didn’t get connected into a system for the best part of a month, but they were more than worth the wait.

They are easily one of the most transparent and honest sounding cables which I have ever experienced. They have been designed to sound as invisible as possible, stepping out of the way of the music to allow you hear your system perform accurately – they don’t colour, shape or manipulate the presentation in any way.

They provide incredible levels of bandwidth and transparency, with impeccable time domain accuracy. Due to their design and geometry all OePhi cables offer incredibly low capacitance and are designed to ensure that the musical signal is pushed through the cable as quickly as possible, effectively so the cable limits the amount of damage it can do to the signal whilst on its journey.

They time amazingly well and are perfectly linear and neutral; their revealing nature can be quite a surprise when people first experience them in their system, with many quickly discovering that their existing cables are actually masking performance by manipulating the signal in some way, like adding artificial weight or detail.

There are 5 different ranges of cables which follow the same naming structure as the loudspeakers, starting with Lounge then Ascendence, Transcendence, Immanence with Reference as the range topping model. They all share the same basic design philosophy, but as you move up the range realism, bandwidth and dynamics dramatically increase, with the flagship Reference range focussing on maximum signal preservation. For each cable the chosen conductors, connectors, dielectric material and geometry all contribute to help lower inductance and capacitance and keep phase distortion to an absolute minimum.

In a market saturated with cable options, many of which seem designed more to impress than to accurately transmit a signal, OePhi represents something refreshingly different. These aren’t tone controls or a plaster for system inadequacies – they’re precision tools designed with a singular purpose: to preserve the integrity of the musical signal.
