On the rear of the N100 there are 2 USB sockets and 2 RJ45 sockets, there is an additional USB socket on the front.

The 2TB HDD will comfortably store around 3000 albums at CD quality (High Res files take up more space)

The Melco N100 can be used in one of two way in a system

1. USB DAC – As well as playing music stored on the HDD the N100 will also stream Tidal and Qobuz when connected to a USB-DAC, it will also serve as a Roon Endpoint. When used this way the N100 can be controlled by Melco’s own app (iPad only), plus there are other 3rd party apps like J-Play which are proving very popular.
2. Network Player – If you are using a streamer like a Naim NDX2 or one of the Linn DS models you can use the N100 to serve music stored on the HDD via UPnP, as opposed to using USB this utilises the 2nd Ethernet port (the Player port)

If you purchase any music from either Qobuz providing you are signed into your account on the Melco all purchases will automatically download to the Melco HDD when you complete checkout – it’s a great feature.

Also, you can back up your music library without any fuss, connect a USB hard drive to one of the USB sockets and select start back up in the menu.

Importing music via USB is also very simple, connect a drive or stick to one of the USB sockets and within a couple of button presses the import processes

A USB CD drive (like a Melco D100 can be connected via USB to import CD’s onto the 2TB HDD.
