Doshi Audio Evolution Line Preamplifier
The Evolution Line Preamplifier is Doshi’s linestage, it offers 4 pairs of analogue inputs and when ordered you can specify any combination of RCA or XLR that suits your requirements. There are 2 pairs of analogue outputs and as with the inputs you can specify RCA / XLR. This allows for huge flexibility so if you have a specific requirement for your system Doshi can accomodate providing it falls within the parameters of 4 inputs and 2 outputs.
The Evolution Line uses 2 tubes, 1 per channel, it is supplied with a pair of ECC99 tubes. These tubes are neither raced or rallied and are they ran rather conservatively in operation so they won’t require regular replacement, they should offer years of service out of the box.
Doshi produce a small but impeccable range of products and their linestage is no exception, it comes with an external power supply.
Inside, there is a large toroidal transformer, this PSU has been deliberately over-specified compared to the real world requirements of the Linestage, to essentially ensure that the pre-amp is never caught short.
The Linestage and PSU connect together via a proprietary umbilical cable, there is enough length on this cable so you can install the power supply on a shelf above, below or to the side of the Linestage.
The volume control is transformer based with 31 steps and it acts as a balanced device, but it matters not whether you feed in or out balanced or single ended.
The chassis is unusual in that it made with 14 ga stainless steel, which is almost 2mm thick. This typically requires military grade fabrication, even the paint used is the same type as is used on US Navy Submarines.
Once our demonstration is fully run in we’ll going a lot more in depth about this superb linestage, it’s a very special product and when partnered with their matching stereo power amplifier or the mono versions it offers top tier performance. I’m very much looking forward to be able show off this incredible brand.
