Shunyata Research Sigma X USB Cable

The Sigma X is the penultimate USB cable in the Shunyata range and is has come about after long period of extensive research and development from Caelin Gabriel and his team. As with all of the X cables there is a significant jump in performance when comparing to the older non X version of the same.

It comes in a standard length of 1.5m, if you require a longer length you can add  increments of 25cm, each increment is £65.00

The Sigma X uses a huge array of technology developed by Shunyata and it is a superb cable. Just like the Omega X above it the Sigma X is not inexpensive at £2800 and as such it will only be typically used in larger systems, but even when used between 2 more modest components it can extract so much information and deliver far better performance than lesser USB cables, it will really show you want your electronics are cable of doing

SR USB Cable— There are many problems with off-the-shelf USB cables including poor quality conductors and dielectrics and insufficient shielding.  Conventional cables induce high amounts of signal jitter and phase noise degrading sonic performance.

The SR-USB-Cable is an exclusive Shunyata Research product that was designed to achieve the ultimate levels of performance without regard to production cost. It starts with our highest grade of ArNi® wire featuring pure OHNO copper in a VTX™ geometry with fluorocarbon dielectrics.  The power wiring is a completely different type of conductor designed specifically for DC power transfer minimizing any signal transmission interference. Massive silver-plated copper braided shields protect the delicate signals from external RFI/EMI.

SR-USB — There are very few great quality USB connectors so Shunyata created their own.  It features an easy to grip, large diameter head-shell that accepts large gauge wiring. It has an exceptional strain-relief system that ensures longterm reliability even with heavy usage.  The contacts are made from high conductivity gold-plated copper assuring minimal signal junction impedance.

TAP (Transverse Axial Polarizer) is a patent-pending technology developed by Shunyata Research to enhance the performance of its reference signal cables. The evolution of this technology has led to the creation of TAPc, a groundbreaking advancement that significantly reduces the size of the modules, enabling their application across a broader range of cables, including power cords, interconnects, digital cables and speaker cables.

The sonic results of TAPc technology include a profound drop in perceived noise floor, effortlessly portrayed dynamics, and an exceptional rendering of timing and coherency. These benefits are unique to TAPc, setting it apart from any competing product or technology. Even to an untrained ear, the effects of TAPc are immediately apparent and consistently repeatable across various components and systems. Essentially, the TAPc modules act as force multipliers, elevating the listening experience to levels many would not have thought possible.

Patent Pending

Shunyata Research produces select cables using a ‌Precision Matched Z (‌‌PMZ) concept. This means that tolerances of the conductor surface, dielectric extrusion, and the precision of the braided shield are held to minute variances. To achieve these tight tolerances, the extrusion and braiding machines must be run at one-quarter speed during the manufacturing process. (Note: Z means impedance)

(Z definition = impedance)

‌‌ArNi® wire was designed by Shunyata Research to be the finest quality wire available. It begins with the highest purity of copper and silver metals available, including Ohno (single crystal), PCOCC silver and OFE C0101 conductors. Fluorocarbon dielectrics, usually only found in aerospace applications that have exceptional electrical characteristics including extremely low dielectric absorption, high dielectric strength and superb heat resistance.  When used in digital wiring it significantly reduces transient energy storage and release which affects phase noise performance.

Kinetic Phase Inversion Processing V2

KPIP v2™ Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process includes four days of continuous KPIP v2™ processing which refines conductor metals at a molecular level. This dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation. When compared to the original process, KPIP v2™ represents a dramatic performance upgrade on par with a component-level upgrade.
