Soulnote E-2 ver2 Phono Stage
The E-2 ver.2 is the replacement for the original E-2 Phono Stage and as with the integrated amplifier and the DAC this new model really builds upon the performance levels from the original versions. The prices of the new 2 Series components have remained reasonably close to the previous versions, but right across the range sound quality has taken a healthy step forward, being further developed in all of the areas where Soulnote was ever so strong to begin with. Soulnote’s sweetness and vibrancy is still present in abundance, as is the transparency and see through nature of it is as strong as ever.
There are 3 pairs of RCA inputs, 1 pair of XLR inputs (which are shared with one of the RCA pairs)
There is also a DS optical input (RCA/XLR) and analogue outputs are available on both RCA and XLR as well.
The E-2 ver.2 offers superb flexibility and customisation. There are six types of Roll Off (high-frequency attenuation frequency), four types of of Turn Over (low-frequency amplification frequency) and six types of Low Limit (ultra-low-frequency amplification restriction).
These adjustments are all independent of each other and can be changed individually. They offer a total of 144 types of curves, from Decca and COLUMBIA to early SP records (FLAT). By using these individual adjustment knobs, the most appropriate equaliser curve can be selected. Alternatively, the equaliser curve can be customised to use the included equaliser curve sheet. Equaliser curve switching is performed using mechanical relays, prioritising sound quality.
